Art Siebens grew up in Lynbrook, N.Y. and Madison, Wisconsin. He majored in Biology at Oberlin College (1972) where he sang in the Oberlin Choir and learned to play the guitar. He earned a Ph.D. in Physiology at George Washington University (dissertation research at NIH), and did post-doctoral work at Yale School of Medicine and NIH. His research interests concerned transport across cell membranes, cell volume regulation and intracellular pH regulation. Dr. Art has been teaching high school biology in the Washington D.C. public schools at Woodrow Wilson High School since 1990. Awards include The Advanced Placement Recognition Award in biology from the Middle States Regional Assembly of the College Board (February, 2002), and the Bernice Lamberton Award for Teaching Science in High School from the Washington Academy of Sciences (May, 2000).
